The Zer02 rider Rafael Álvarez de Lara(Specialized Spain) has been proclaimed 2006 BMX Spanish Champion in the Elite class, after the two last races that took place in Móstoles (Madrid) on September 16th & 17th.
On Saturday, Rafa had to conform to the second place behind Javier Morales. On Sunday, Rafa finished on the first place.
"From 2000 until 2006 I have been champion every year..." -said Álvarez de Lara- "...except when I had the injury, though every year the Elite class is more complicated. Now the objetive is worldwide, we still have two years to try to obtain a post for the Olympic Games".
Rafael Álvarez de Lara obtains his 6th consecutive Spanish Championship in Elite class, and he is the Spanish rider with more BMX titles.
